There are all sorts of sexual issues that people and couples can suffer from, and most of the time they sort themselves out, but what do you do if things don’t change? Whether it’s premature ejaculation, vaginismus, loss of desire, sex addiction or something else, hypnotherapy can help with any sexual issues you may have.
Of course, you should always consult your GP first in regards to any medical sexual issues, but hypnotherapy can be extremely helpful in many situations whether your sexual issues are physical or psychological.
Some common conditions which are often treated through hypnotherapy are:
- Premature Ejaculation – this is the most common sexual issue for men and is characterised by a lack of control over ejaculation. While many men experience this a few times in their lives, if it occurs more often, then some triggers such as low self-esteem, sexual repression, performance anxiety or depression may be the cause.
- Vaginismus – this is the most common sexual issue for women and is characterised by the involuntary spasm of the vaginal muscles resulting in painful sex. Causes include child birth, fear of pregnancy or relationship issues.
- Inhibited Sexual Desire – this is the loss of desire for sexual activity. Although sexual desire does fluctuate during your life, if you persistently find your sexual desire decreased or completely absent, then depression, fatigue, stress, anxiety or relationship problems may be the cause.
- Erectile Dysfunction – also known as impotence, this condition is characterised by the inability to get or maintain an erection. Causes include stress, depression, anxiety or physical injury.
A lot of sexual issues come from a place of fear, anxiety, stress or worry, and whether you know the cause or not, hypnotherapy can be very helpful in getting you back on track. In a hypnotherapy session you will work with a trained hypnotherapist to uncover or identify the underlying cause and triggers of your issues, and then over the course of one or more sessions the hypnotherapist will communicate with your subconscious mind to alter the way your brain sees these triggers and reacts to them.
By putting you in a deeply relaxed trance-like state, your subconscious mind will be open and ready for any suggestions that the hypnotherapist might make, ultimately making your recovery quicker and easier.
