Very soon a whole new year of young adults will be starting their first year at university, and many will be returning after a nice long summer break. Whether you’re just starting at university, or returning, you may be worrying a bit about what to expect, or hoping to improve upon your performance the year before.
Unfortunately, while it can be a very fun and fulfilling experience, the university does come with its stresses and causes of anxiety. It can also lead to depression. Luckily, however, there are things you can do to prevent this from happening, or, if you’re already suffering from a mental health problem, help yourself to recover.
There are many forms of therapy, and they won’t all work for everyone. This article, however, is going to focus on hypnotherapy and how it can help you to make the most of the coming year at university.

Hypnotherapy for anxiety
Hypnotherapy has long been used to combat anxiety. Whether it’s worrying about your grades, deadlines, or social situations, hypnotherapy can help by uncovering what’s triggering your anxiety. University is a time of change, so it’s not unusual to feel some slight apprehension or trepidation, but if this starts to impact on your everyday life, hypnotherapy can help you understand why.
Hypnotherapy works on the subconscious level, so it’s great at discovering what’s going on ‘behind the scenes’ in your mind. Once the reason for your anxiety has been uncovered, your hypnotherapist can provide a roadmap to overcoming whatever it is that’s causing the unwelcome worrying.

Hypnotherapy for depression
As previously said, university is a time of great change. You may be moving away from home for the first time, and the structures that school provided are no longer there. It’s for these reasons, and others, that depression is so common among university students. Exam and essay stress is another thing that can lead us to feel depressed.
Again, fortunately, hypnotherapy is perfect of uncovering the reasons for your low mood, and once it’s done so, it can provide a way of combating it and getting back to a more positive outlook where you no longer feel overwhelmed by the pressures of university.

Hypnotherapy for procrastination
We’ve all been there. The essay deadline is coming up, but you still can’t quite be bothered to get started on the reading for it. There always seems to be something more fun to do! Unfortunately, it’s not a good long term strategy.
Fortunately, hypnotherapy can help you to organize your work and bring about a healthy work-life balance. It can help you better prioritise your tasks, and also feel less overwhelmed if you’ve got a lot of deadlines.
Once you feel calmer about the work you have ahead of you, it’s easier to view it as not an insurmountable task, but a series of smaller ones you can get on with one at a time.
